G is for RE-GROUND
There comes a time when you need to return to basics. Life can seem overwhelming and tasks can seem never-ending.
We can get so caught up in all the gossip and negative information that is coming at us from all sides. Wouldn’t it be nice to take a few deep breaths and enjoy something positive? Uplifting?
You need a time out. To RE-GROUND your SELF.
Don’t worry…the tasks will still be there waiting for you. Life will still be busy, however, you’ll feel more centered and less harried.
The challenge for today…or for the next 20 days to be exact is to take specific 5 minute breaks…..awareness breaks. Scatter them throughout your day and your week whenever you can wherever you are.
This activity will require a small journal or pieces of paper. Get as creative and colorful as you dare.
Start off by thinking about what it is that makes you SMILE.
It could be a person, place, thing, event, trip, memory, idea…anything and everything.
Each day for 20 days write down 5 things that make you smile. The trick is…no repeats. Each day has to have 5 new and different things than you wrote down yesterday.
By the end of the 20 days you will have 100 things that make you smile in some form or fashion.
You can write a single word or whole paragraph for each entry. Whatever floats your boat.
Acknowledge the parts of you that make you happy. Celebrate them. Cherish them.

J here, stopping by from the #atozchallenge – where I am part of Arlee Bird’s A to Z Ambassador Team.
How has the first week of the challenge been for you so far? Are you meeting your goals of posting and hopping to other blogs?
My blog has a giveaway with bonus a to z challenges to encourage people to visit more stops.

This sounds like a cool idea for a 20-day blogging challenge. I know the point was to do it by hand, but still. Could be fun.

Hi J, thanks so much for stopping by! This is my second year in the challenge and I am enjoying it immensely! So far I am up to date with posts and plan on catching up with comments for the last 2 letters today. There are so many amazing blogs that I have visited and have some bookmarked as my ‘favorites.’
I’m excited to see what the giveaway is….
I would love to do a challenge but am so new and don’t have a following (still trying to figure out how to get a subscription button on my website too) Do you have any pointers on how the process works to get one up and running?

You have such great ideas. I’m glad I bookmarked your blog because I had a hectic week that ended with my husband having emergency surgery. I remembered your blog from the day before the challenge when we were getting ready to come home from our trip but I couldn’t remember the name and I knew I Really wanted to visit you during the challenge. My kids reminded me tonight that I bookmarked it on my phone – yea ?. I’m going to spend time this weekend catching up on the posts I missed.
5 things for today.
1. My family
2. Peanut butter
3. My dogs
4. Gardening
5. Swimming

Melissa you are wonderful! With all that you have going on you are still able to post and share. That amazes me. I hope your husband is feeling better and that things get back to normal for all of you as soon as possible.
Some years back I participated in a similar gratitude exercise. At first I grumbled because I really wasn’t in a good place and I thought that I would run out of things to put on my list about day 3. I pressed on to find so many amazing things that I was happy and grateful for. The momentum that I built up helped me to continue on with my list for quite awhile.(about 2 months) It became quite euphoric to be in such a state of gratitude. I wish you the same (or better) experience. Its also good when you’re having a bad day…you can always look back in your journal to smile and be grateful all over again….kind of a count your blessings kind of experience.
Thanks again for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.
