F is for RE-FINANCE

This is not a conversation about your house, car or credit. It does involve money though…..well, partly.travel

It’s about you. ALL you. Nothing but you. YOU, YOU – YOU!!!   It’s time to invest in you.

We all have dreams, goals or some sort of bucket list- even if they are just in our heads. Even if not another living soul knows about it. It’s always there. In the deep recesses of your mind, or constantly in the forefront.

Have you paid attention to it lately?  It’s not ever going to go away, you know. It beckons you to honor it and bring it to fruition.

Sometimes it whispers, sometimes it screams!saving money

Is there a place that you’ve always wanted to visit?

Is there a specific language that you’ve always wanted to learn?

Is there a business or an idea that needs to get off the ground? Taken to the next level? Expanded?

How about learning to play a new instrument?

A new dance…or two?

A craft?

With access to the internet and tons of free information the research is right at your fingertips.

Can you find a creative way to save up for a special event or purchase?

I challenge you to pick out at least ONE thing on your list and make it happen. Give yourself a specific time frame and budget to work towards. GO FOR IT!

E is for RE-ENERGIZE!

So it’s time to put a little pep in your step. I’m not talking Red Bull…I’m talking Pitbull. Put some music on and shake what your momma gave ya! dancing girl1

Get yourself in motion to get the blood flowing. Try something fun…..different. Do you own a hoola hoop? A jump rope? Get creative and GET MOVING! Twist and shout, rock and roll, or do the cupid shuffle. Any which way will do.

dancing girl2There’s a funny new craze happening. Dance-walking. It started out as a silly spoof on jazzing up a dull daily walk. Maybe you can give it a try. Enlist the help of some children if you think you’ll look too silly. It will look like it was their idea and you’re just going along with it. Try it – you just might like it.

If you already have a routine – change it up a bit. Get yourself out of the ho-hum, predictable schedule.

Five minutes a day is the challenge that I present you with. Start with 3 minutes if it’s been awhile sing you’ve moved and grooved. Heck if you’re even so stubborn or sedentary…..try 1 minute.  A little goes a long way.

RE-DECORATE

This is not a typical post about redecorating your environment or outer surroundings, nope, it’s about what’s on the INSIDE.

Bet you didn’t see that coming.

Sure, it’s great to be surrounded by nice things but what about the quality of your inner being? The REAL you.

Todays’ focus is on how we can RE-DECORATE our Minds, Bodies, and Souls.

MIND:  Do you ever pay attention to what you think? Have you ever really taken a look? It may surprise you (or not) what’s rattling around up there. Is it busy and chaotic? Are you so focused and worried and even distracted by other people or things that really waste your time? I invite you to take a look. If it doesn’t serve you any more you can give yourself permission to let it go and perhaps, dare I say it? MIND your OWN business! (Get it?)

BODY: It is absolutely amazing what our bodies can do and what they can put up with. The levels of stress and overwhelm can reach epic proportions. It’s time to take a chill pill! It’s imperative that your body get enough rest and relaxation to be able to serve you as best as it can. You’ve heard it time and time again, but did you really get the message? You run (literal or figurative) marathons on almost a daily basis. Give yourself a break, will ya!? FIND the time. MAKE the time. Your body is depending on you!

SOUL: Who pays attention to this anymore? On a deep level. This may be the biggest priority of all (depending on what you believe) Is there a way to stay connected or reconnect with your essence? Your true energy source? The Divine in your life? See what’s been missing in your life and decide how you can get back on track, you’ll be glad you did.

C is for RE-CONNECT

RE-CONNECT

It happens to the best of us. Somehow, someway we get distracted or lost along the way and before you know it we can get disconnected from ourselves and our surroundings. We can lose sight of taking care of ourselves because we are too busy taking care of others in some form or fashion. So it’s time to take a detour or maybe even make a u-turn and come back home to ourselves…to RE-CONNECT.

For today we will focus on 3 areas: People, Places and Things.

Let’s get started…..

People: First and foremost you need to RE-CONNECT to YOURSELF! You need you like no one else does. Can you find some alone time or some quiet time, even if it’s just a few minutes?  Stop and look in the mirror. Give yourself a smile. Acknowledge yourself for something…anything…even if it was just getting out of bed this morning. Start small and build from there. This is an on-going process so you don’t have to rush. Is there someone who you haven’t spoken to or seen for awhile that you miss? A quick “hello” phone call or plan to meet for lunch may just be what you need.

Places: Your immediate environment. Have you looked at your curtains? Can you smile and remember when and where you got them? Do you have some artwork or knick- knacks that bring back fond memories? Go on a mini-treasure hunt and see what you have surrounded yourself with. Maybe you can buy yourself some fresh flowers and enjoy them for a while or a plant that (hopefully) will last a while longer. (…forget the cobwebs for now…we’ll get to that soon enough…this is just a mini-time out…so to speak).

Things: You have your daily routines with different things….lets just take a peek at a few…

Food –Are you eating things that optimize your energy?  Have you been wanting to try a new recipe or restaurant? When was the last time you had your favorite food?

Clothing – Do you enjoy what you wear? Do you feel good or even fabulous in the choice of outfits that you put together? When is the last time you wore a new accessory?

Downtime – Do you actually relax…or collapse at the end (or some part) of the day? Do you spend your day(s) off working and doing things FOR others instead of WITH them? What is it that YOU enjoy doing?

B is for RE-BALANCE

RE-Balance

Okay, so we get caught up in so many different things that we can often find ourselves out of balance.

It doesn’t happen intentionally – not all the time, anyway.  Most of the time it can creep up on you ever so silently.

Sometimes it builds up to the point where we want to scream out “Make it stop!” Other times it can happen so swiftly that it can knock us on our butts!

Regardless of where it came from or how you got there it’s time to remedy the situation.

Why does this keep happening?  Chances are you’re like most of us and this isn’t the first time things became overwhelming. Take a step back and see if there are any patterns being repeated. Do you keep doing SO many things because you need someone’s approval or love? Have you fallen into the trap of….”If you love me you’ll do this FOR me!”? There are times when people really do need help. Other times people can and do take advantage of others. Often there is a fine line between the two. You may need to take a really good look at where and how you are out of balance.

Let’s take a look….

What am I doing? What is it that keeps demanding so much of my time and attention? Is it a project? A person? A group of people/Organization? Does my job/business take up waaaaay too much of my time because I am such a workhorse?  Really look at the whole picture and decide what ABSOLUTELY has to be done by you and only you. Even if it’s a small part of something let someone help you. If you’re not sure how to do that or who else could possibly help get still, very still and find the answer. Maybe a friend or a family member can come up with an idea or creative way to help you. Allow some help into your life. Even if it’s just a little bit. A little can go a loooong way.

Who have I become? Who keeps draining me? When you look in the mirror do you recognize yourself? Have you positioned yourself in a situation that you think (which may not necessarily be the case) ONLY YOU can do/handle this? Are you holding onto something or someone so tightly that you won’t let go at the cost of your time and maybe even your health? Who can you ask for help…even if it’s a little…even if you’re uncomfortable sharing or letting go of the task at hand? Share the load. You’re health or sanity may depend on it.

Where can I go to get some peace and quiet? Can you schedule a little vacation or some time off? Would you consider a mini- stay-cation? Schedule at least an hour or so (to start) and enjoy something relaxing. A nice hot bath. Read a good book. Try a new recipe. Or maybe you can do absolutely NOTHING. You know what you like. It’s time to enjoy some of that. Its time just for YOU!

When would ‘now’ be a good time? You aren’t getting any younger and tomorrow isn’t guaranteed to anyone. You need to take some positive action for your best interest. If you keep putting this off until…later….tomorrow….when this happens…when so and so does this…..if…when…  It’s time to stop fooling yourself. Even one small change or tweak can make a huge impact on your life. Give it a try. It may just be what you need. It may seem odd or difficult at first. If it doesn’t work you can always go back to way things were. Chances are you just might like and appreciate a little adjustment.

 

RE-BALANCING yourself may or may not be an easy task. You might not know HOW to do it. You may not WANT to do it because you have yourself so convinced that “This is the only way!”  I invite you to REALLY take a look at your life and situations. You may only need help temporarily. You cannot be everything to everyone. The sooner you realize this the sooner you can take your true power back and have yourself be a priority in your life. This is not impossible.  It might seem unlikely, at first anyway. Somehow, someway there is a way to RE-BALANCE your life. It’s time to take that first step to find out just how to do that.
