F is for FORGETFUL

Did you ever walk from one room to the next and completely forget what you were looking for? Was it…to….get something? Was …it…..because……you needed to check something? Was it…..because….you needed to do something and now that you’re there you completely forgot what you went there for in the first place? ARG!

This seems to happen to me a lot more lately. There seem to be quite a few projects undone due to the fact that I simply forget about them. Getting distracted easily does not help this situation either.

I can walk into any given room at home and something will catch my eye. “OH, yeah!” I say as I instantly remember that when I left the room 20 minutes ago it was to get something and bring it back to complete this task. But lo and behold I walked out of the room and completely forgot about it…..again. ARG! Goodness, gracious how many times can you forget something? The SAME something?
It has gotten so bad that at this point I can either stand up or just take 2 or 3 steps and POOF! It disappears. Into thin air as if it were never there in the first place. “What was I going to do?” This can either be said out loud or in your head because, yup, it happened AGAIN! It can take a few minutes, if I can think of it at all, to remember what the heck I was doing in the first place. What did I forget to remember? This seems to be my new motto.

You can be smack dab in the middle of an important or juicy conversation and you’re just about to make a point or tell the highlight and BAM! …..uh……..er……….hmmm………..”What was I saying?” Sometimes it’s funny – other times not because you seriously wonder if the lights are still on upstairs. At this point I choose to laugh about it. No sense in crying over spilled…..uh……er……ummm……..oh yeah! Milk!

Lol Is there anything that you forget to remember? Does it happen sporadically? Is there any logic to it at all?

Are there any other words that come to mind for you starting with the letter “F?” Fun, Fabulous, Frightening. Can you recall any at all? 😉

E is for EMOTIONAL

When was the last time you cried? Was it recently, a week ago or maybe even every 20 minutes for the past 3 months?

These water works seems to be almost permanently in the “ON” position for me over the past year. It seems as though every time I turn around the emotions rise and here come the tears.

range of emo

God only knows where they come from sometimes. I can cry over just about anything and nothing and have no idea why. It just happens. Sometimes without even a warning. One minute everything is just fine and then the next, WHAM!

Of course there are times when I CAN identify the source of the eruption. It can be because of the happiness, joy and pride that I feel. I’m very grateful to have made this far in life. I enjoy the beauty of nature and am astounded by it to the point where it moves me very deeply, so much so that there are no words to describe it…so like a human pressure cooker…..I let off a little steam…and cry. No harm done. Just let me get it out of my system and everything will be back to normal. It will pass. There are times when I celebrate the accomplishments and dreams of friends and family and I am so happy for them and proud of them. When I am around children they usually say or do something that is quite amusing and innocent and it can be so profound that it moves me to tears….of course then it triggers my thoughts of “How and when did life get so busy & complicated?” which sends me in the direction of different tears.

female laugghing

Life does seem complicated on occasion. It’s not just during menopause that we deal with challenges and struggles but they seem to be heightened at this time and we may feel vulnerable and overwhelmed by it all. When the brain and the body and life are all going in different directions that pressure builds up and yes, once again it’s time to cry lest I explode.

How have your emotions changed during midlife? Do you feel like a stark raving lunatic because your emotions seem to have you going in 14 different directions? Do you express/experience your emotional release by crying? Screaming? Some other way? I would like to know that I am not alone in this.

What other “E” words come to mind for you? Excitement? Eating? Extraordinary?

D is for DANGEROUS

It’s a rather interesting time in a woman’s life with so much happening in your brain, your body, and your world. Each and every day can pose a new, often unexpected twist or turn of mood, seemingly uncontrollable emotions, and many times completely irrational behavior and/or reactions that can lead to utter chaos. It can also happen in record time—in split seconds, in fact, with no warning!

BookCover
There is no official survivors guide, yet I humbly offer these suggestions both for yourself and others.

SOME DO’S AND DON’TS OF BEING NEAR A MENOPAUSAL WOMAN

Don’t try to talk me off the edge. Chance are if you’re in my vicinity you now become my prisoner and are coming with me when I go over.
DO: Kindly offer me CHOCOLATE and walk away (Save yourself)

Don’t tell me it’s okay or that it will be. It’s not, and how the hell do you know anyway?! Do you have some magic crystal ball that solves all woes?
DO: Just keep your mouth shut and GIVE ME CHOCOLATE! (Seems easy enough)

Don’t tell me to relax and breath. Oh, I’m breathing all right. I’m breathing fire and unless you want your ass burnt to a crisp I suggest you steer clear of me and walk the other way, pretend you don’t even see me. Eye contact can be dangerous!
DO: Chocolate will do just fine, thank you (Can you handle that?)

Don’t tell me you understand. Chances are you don’t even have a friggin’ clue! You might have a general idea or smidgen of understanding if you are in your 40’s or older. But, yeah, you guessed it….
Do: HAND OVER THE CHOCOLATE AND NO ONE GETS HURT!!! (Let’s keep this simple)

keep calm hand it overHave YOU ever experienced or witnessed menopause being dangerous? Do tell! 😉

C is for CRAZY

Ever feel like you’re losing all your marbles?

hormones

I don’t know about you but from time to time I feel like I’m going crazy! Nothing makes sense, I can cry over nothing and everything, no one understands and the world, my world, is coming to an end!

There are so many things shifting and changing; physically, mentally, emotionally, socially. It can feel like life is out of control or is heading in that direction.

There are days when getting out of bed is a feat. I have a long list of tasks but feel like I physically cannot get going. Where’s the “ON” button?

cautionOther days I am such an emotional wreck. It starts,……just a few tears at first,…..they’ll stop soon,……I have this under control,….but nooooooooo, here comes the hysteria. Most times accompanied by an uncontrollable tsunami of sobs and tears for absolutely no apparent reason and they can seem to be never ending. The minute you try to figure out why you are upset, or sad or crying it gets worse and you get to be completely irrational. Some days it can happen several different times, often with no warning. I am looking to having all these hormones balance out so I can get back to normal……whatever THAT is.

crazy person - CopySo how do YOU “Calm YOUR Crazy?” Do you have any special tools or techniques that help? At least a little bit?

What other “C” words can you come to mind?

B is for BITCH

April 3, 2015 by w0rdpressdonna

Blog pic B

Did anyone ever call you a Bitch? ( notice the capital “B”) Do you think you deserved that? How do you feel when people use that word? How do you react? Do you react at all?

kiss my ass

Have you ever called anyone else a Bitch? Did she get on your LAST nerve? Be careful using that word around a woman in menopause…..her reaction may be “OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!”

On any given day the word doesn’t bother me. I’ve heard worse….much worse. I do question those who use it so frequently though. I wonder if they could possibly expand their vocabulary into saying something constructive. I agree with the saying “if you don’t have anything good to say then say nothing at all!” It seems logical. And safe.

bulldoze - CopyThese days it seems like people have plenty of negative things to say and they want to make sure that everyone knows it. They will tell you where to go and how to get there! And don’t dare engage them or there may be an onslaught of destruction, you’ll feel their wrath. Sometimes I just want to yell “SHUT UP!”

That’s not to say that I haven’t used the word a time or two myself. I usually downgrade my anger and instead of being VERY colorful I settle for the “B” word.

In a different context, have you ever experienced someone’s “Bitching” session or had the pleasure of having your own? I know when I’ve had a bad day and nothing seems to be going right I catch myself Bitching about everything! Not that it really helps or is constructive. It may just take the edge off of things by letting off a little steam. Hopefully I haven’t offended too many people, not on purpose anyway.

glue chapstick - Copy

When was the last time YOU had a Bitching session? What was it about? Did you ever witness someone else’s Bitching session? Inquiring minds want to know 😉
